Another failure in Bay City, I was served a bloody prime rib with huge chucks of fat and blood flowing in my potatoes. It might be busy often, but I might judge that people in Bay City don't know about quality good food.....sorry!

I ordered the pan seared scallops and was served breaded scallops that were fried of some sort. Ask your server to describe the dish to you before ordering. Salad dressing created a puddle under the lettuce. Get dressing on the side. My friend ordered the ribeye and it was good. Server was very nice but when questioned about the breading she replied that they always come like that just sometimes with more breading than others. I have never seen a breaded scallop before nor would I ever knowingly order them.

After giving this place a chance time after time, I give up. The food is a 2 out of 10 every time. Yuck yuck yuck thank god I am now a vegan. Who puts soggy salmon on wet iceberg lettuce. :(

Better than going to Applebee's but not as nice as going to Harvey's. I really like the the lake perch, that's like a local delicacy. Another comparable place to visit is latitude 43.

Doug and I always stop on our way home. Prices are reasonable and food is excellent ! Where else can you get a 12 oz sirloin with 2 sides for $14.99 ,with fresh baked bread? The menu is diverse and offers something for everyone.

I always get the grouper sandwich because it is always great and it was again. The fries needed a little more fryer action, but the calamari appetizer made up for the fries. My iced tea went from unsweetened to raspberry on refill, but it was quite refreshing. I do love the food, but the dining room is, well,.....ugly and unfriendly.

Sat at the bar and ordered a ribeye with a lucky ale. The ale was very good. The steak however was over cooked and the service at the bar was sub par. Food took a while to get out.

A fellow traveler recommended this place and I'm so glad I gave it a try. To begin, this restaurant is very generous with the bread. An entire loaf for one person is a bit too much! They should have smaller portions for single patrons. I got a shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and really liked it. For 7.99 you get 6 fresh, large shrimp with cocktail sauce and a lemon wedge. For my entree I got the crab stuffed grouper with the lobster cream sauce, accompanied with mac and cheese as a side. Wow this dish was fantastic! Fish was fresh, seasoned and cooked perfectly! The stuffing tasted like it had some shrimp with the crab and it all was really delicious with the fish. The entree came with a salad which was also very fresh and dressed with just the right amount of dressing. In my opinion, this estaurant is extremely generous with portions and very affordable. My bill was about $26.00 (including an iced tea), which I found very reasonable for the amount of food. I ended up taking a bunch of leftovers (including a loaf of bread haha) to go because it was just too much food. Service was great, the bartender was very friendly and offered prompt service. Would definitely return when I'm in the area again.

I love this place; it is amazing. Everything here is made from scratch and is fresh. The value and quality are the 2 most important things I look for when I go to a restaurant. Their portions are plentiful, and I am never disappointed. They serve you this delicious garlicky bread with whipped butter...just don't eat too much or you will get full. In any event, I wish I had pictures of the food I ordered. Their buns are made from scratch if you order their tasty, moist burgers, and the last time I was there I ordered a fresh salad with salmon on top. Keep in mind, I never liked salad dressing growing up, but have recently acquired a taste for Thousand Island Dressing. Lucky's was right on the money with their salad dressing that I had asked the waitress to put additional dressing in a to-go container for me to take home. Also, the salmon was cooked to perfection, and they gave you several pieces of fish. I could not ask for anything more...they did everything right. Was skeptical thinking that for only a salad that costed $10.00 I was just expecting a few pieces of fish, but Lucky's proved me wrong. Was impressed that I received thick cuts of salmon!

I'm not sure if the people who gave this place good reviews have ever been to a real steakhouse. The place has the feel of an Applebee's and the same food quality. I ordered a porterhouse medium rare and the German fries. The steak was overcooked and full of gristle. The German fries were dry and looked as if they had been sitting in the window for hours. I am giving two stars simply because the bread was decent. The highlight of ones meal at a restaurant should not be the bread.

Had a great meal there last night. I usually get the Luckys Primetime but I opted for the crab stuffed salmon last night. It was very good, great flavor, everyone was very pleased with their meals. Love their bread!!

After reading some reviews on here, I was uncertain about this place, but I gave it a shot. First off, the staff members I encountered were less than stellar. The hostess looked like she couldn't care weather or not anyone got seated. No,"hello", smile or acknowledgement that I was there. My server was slow in coming to the table to get my drink order- again no hello, just "I'll be taking care of you" which btw is a pet peeve of mine anyway. How about, these are our specials, welcome, etc. At this point, I'm thinking I should've listened to some others on Yelp! I ordered the Smaller Filet, (7oz) med rare, house salad and steamed spinach. The salad arrived with my drink, and it was already dressed. Ugh. But, the lettuce and veggies were fresh. Finally my steak arrived- and it literally saved the day! Perfectly cooked, lightly seasoned and delicious. The spinach was steamed with garlic butter- a little heavy on the butter but not bad. My server, Brian, returned to my table one time when my meal was almost gone and asked me how was everything? 3 stars b/c of the staff... Food alone would've easily been a 4.

Best bread in the whole world!!! Then I had the lucky sandwich, which is a slab of prime rib on that bread! You won't lose weight with a meal like that, but it was worth every carb. Restaurant is clean and the service was great! Definitely bookmarking for the next time I need a meal in the middle of nowhere!

This place is WAY overrated! I am not usually one to write a bad review, but we have only had bad experiences at Lucky's. In fact, we only go there if our friends want to go there. Never on our own. During our latest visit the server acted like he was too busy to bother with us. Asked for dressing on side, it came on the salad. I didn't say anything ate it anyway. Our appetizer came AFTER our meal and the server proceeded to blame the cooks for losing the ticket. He never checked back with us. I had the steak medallions...they were terrible could of had a better steak at Applebees. My husband had a french dip and said it was bad. One of our friends asked his wife if her food was better this time. Had to practically beg for a refill of pop. Like I said, the past 4 times at Lucky's has been awful, we only go about once a year when our friends want to go. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!

We Love to sit in the bar area and eat the best coconut shrimp north of key west. The Crab Cakes were very good. Our favorite dinner so far were the Lamb Chops. Ice cold beer too.

Large portions if delicious food, great service! I'm not sure what else I can say. 3 of us ate, two had prime rib and one had sirloin and we came out under $50. Had to wait a few minutes to get in on a Sunday night but I arrived a few minutes early and got us checked in so we were seated about the time we had planned. Great choice!

Absolutely loved this place! The bread alone that they put on the table was delicious. Our meals came with a soup or salad. My boyfriend got the Mexican soup which was delicious. Appetizer: shrimp cocktail (the shrimp was fresh) Dinner: twin filets with shrimp (very good, meat was very tender) Mahi mahi (delicious!!!!!!!!)

I'm giving Luckys 3 stars because of their inconsistency with both food and service. But mainly food. There were times that the chef completely nails my order. I always order steak med. rare, 50% of the time it comes out perfect and the other 50 is well done. When the food is done right, it's awesome! (5star worthy). When it isn't, it's awful. Sometimes it comes out extremely salty and everything is overcooked. I guess I'll have to pay attention to the days I go, maybe my chef only works certain days. It's a shame because I always get excited to eat here, but after a few bad experiences, I've opted for latitude 43 instead.

This place is great. We had a steak and salmon and everything was prepared perfectly. The service was excellent and the prices even better. Bring your appetite because the meals are large. Will definitely be returning.

I'm sitting in Lucky's, packed at 9:30pm on St. Patrick's Day, with the most delicious bread and butter in one hand and a fork of crab-stuffed shrimp with lobster cream sauce in the other, and I look at Ken, shocked... 'We're still in Bay City, right?' Our whole meal, from start to finish, including the huge, comfy booth and the friendly, knowledgeable waitress, was surprisingly great. The least favorite item on our table was my prime rib (served in combination with the crab-stuffed shrimp and two sides - I did salad plus Ranch and creamed spinach for about $18), and it was still pretty darn good. Ken chose the seafood-stuffed Grouper - huge, flaky piece of non-fishy fish, loaded with seafood stuffing, blanketed in the requisite lobster cream sauce (which I think I'll order as a drink next time), with two sides (he did their housemade mac and cheese plus a salad)... for $15. The quality of our food was easily Outback or better. And the prices were cheap - maybe not for Bay City, but a comparable metro Detroit location would easily be $5 more per person for the same thing or a la carte.

Started off great with a great waitress. She had a party of ten along with our table of four but you'd think we were the only table she had. She did a great job. The bread the bring is you great, even if it's seasoned like pizza breadsticks and not homemade bread. I was served the toughest prime rib I ever had in my life. I'm guessing someone got to work late or they ran out and tried to rush cooking the next one. Even the fat was tough. The dipping sauce was a salty mess. The side of sautéed mushrooms was also a salty, soggy mess. The chicken breast found at the bottom of the smothered chicken entree was like shoe leather, which was too bad because the toppings were good. We had gone here about 2 years ago, and now I remember why we never went back.

My parents eat here frquently and have recommended it so we stopped in when I was viviting. The Lucky's Ale was a very good Scottish Ale and a pleasant surprise. I got the Lucky's Prime Rib and it was very good. The meat could've been a little juicier. I ordered it medium, in hindsight I should've gone with medium rare but it was still very good. My dad gets the lobster shrimp pasta. It came with a frickin lobster tail on top. Good stuff. I'll go back again.

Atmosphere is pretty good, especially for the Bay region. Bread was good and we were sat rather quickly. Server was highly unprofessional (using slang and adding z sounds to her words - how are youz guys doingz?). Ordered a mushroom Swiss burger, and it was the worst I've ever had. No salt or seasoning of any kind, cooked to well past medium. I would not recommend this place.

Seems like they are on the right track here, but well nothing I had, saw other people with, or even my service was on par here for either of my two visits. I really wanted it to be better based on comments from other people I know having visited. I think I will stick with steaks on the grill at home. The only plus was the amount of choices, they did have a lot, but I would suggest that they start adding quality to the overall quantity.

Got there on a Monday about 4:30 and there was a wait! We were lucky because we chose to eat at a booth in the bar area. The waitress was efficient and knowledgeable. Silverware was spotless and the bread was delicious and tasted homemade. My husband got the tossed salad with just the right amount of dressing. I had the Caesar salad, which was great. We each ordered the 16oz. Prime rib. Mine was perfectly cooked medium, and my husbands was medium rare, the way he ordered it. The only problem was my husbands prime rib was cold and mine was tepid at best. The waitress took my husbands back and returned a few minutes later. She said if it was too well done she would get him a new one. It was fine. I decided to keep mine and it was delicious. The baked potatoes we had loaded were huge. I ordered a side of broccoli and it was on the cool side and the butter when applied, would not melt. I ordered the cheesecake with raspberry sauce to go. We have ate here at least 5 times with 20 people and as little as two and everything was great. We ordered steaks each time. Ordering prime rib anywhere is taking a risk, as most places do not cook them as ordered. There are only so many slices of rare, medium rare and medium. The prices are really inexpensive for the quality and quantity. About the dessert, I was expecting New York style cheesecake. My mistake in reading the menu. It was very rich and I did not care for it. But that's my opinion. Lucky's is definitely a cut above Outback and Logan's. this restaurant is not a chain but all Lucky's are one owner. Lucky's is not a Ruth Chris Steakhouse or Shula's for those that live or lived in a large city like Tampa, Florida. We lived in Tampa for 29 years. But for the price and location, it's the best around.

Didn't even make it to appetizers because we couldn't get past the dirty plates, dirty glass of beer and the second set of dirty silverware we were brought after saying something about the first (which literally had a whole leaf of lettuce stuck to the fork). Not to mention the floor was absolutely disgusting. We were not Lucky tonight.

Disappointed. The atmosphere in the place is great. The service we had was BAD! I am not sure if it was just the waiter I had (my only time dinning there), but the two I came with said they had bad service the two other times they were there. Had to ask three times before we got silver wear. Forgot to give us something as simple as a napkin for under our beer mugs, so had to keep wiping up the condensation from the table with our dinning napkins. Food is a mixed batch. The Filet Mignon and Salmon New Orleans were Perfect. The Chicken Sandwich was very Bland. The sides of Steak Fries and Onion Rings tasted like they came right out of the Frozen bag, deep fried, and thrown on the plate - with no thought of adding any spice, not even salt. The Garlic Mashed Potatos were just a couple scoops if Potatos with a sprinkle of garlic powder on top. Never a good sign, when the check comes, and your table discusses what it the minimum you HAVE to tip (especially coming from an over tipper).

MMMMM!!! I swear I was male in a past life because I LOVE me some steak and potatoes. Ive been here about 3 times now and haven't been disappointed yet. They serve a lot of food for the price. The steak dinner I usually order comes with salad, a huge hunk of meat (it felt like I ordered half a cow) and 2 sides. You also get a complimentary loaf of bread (which I will usually fight my friends over). It's not hard to clean your whole plate. Don't forget to pair it with a huge beer!

  • Brent W.

I have been here sevral times. Dine-in and Take-out. Never have i personal had bad food. Steaks (although med-rare) never opposite of what I order. The bread loves given are great and the atmosphere is even better. Great for a place with loud children...no one can hear them. However the service is just down right bad. Wether it is because the are almost always busy or what have you, there is no excuse. I seem to never have a refill when I need it. Certainley would go back for food and simply ignore the service. Bring some great friends to chat with and you will never pay attention to the service.

So I was just here and I got the porterhouse mid rare and it came out raw so I tell the server, she takes it back to be cooked more then brings it back in less then 5mins its brown no new grill marks setting in a puddle of grease and mid well and very tough YOU COULD TELL IT WAS MICROWAVED . Thay served me a microwaved steaks and thought It was worth $20 Wtf ! For real and a manager never came out to say a dam thing . NEVER GOING HERE AGEN

I LOVE Lucky`s ! They serve a hot fresh loaf of french bread with every order. The wedge salad is so crisp, to die for. I had the swordfish special with five big shrimp and clams on a wilted bed of spinach, with a generous side of asparagus. My friend had the biggest piece of prime rib with a baked potato and creamed peas. The prices are very reasonable. The service was terrific, every time I go there, it's packed.

Don't know about the food. But service was really bad and rude waiters. The tables were empty but there was a 20 minute wait. Wouldn't recommend going in at all.

This place is always busy and for good reason. I've always had a good chunk of meat when I've come here and tonight was no different. I had the 16 oz. prime rib with a side of steamed vegetables. The meat was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. My only complaint would be the side dishes. They are so so at best. The steamed vegetables were bland. Others in my party had the grilled asparagus and they had similar thoughts about the side dishes. Everyone did enjoy their entrees which included the surf & turf and the sirloin. The service was good. If your in the mood for a good chunk of meat don't hesitate to go to Luckys.

Friendly service and enjoyable food brought down a bit by a sort of cafeteria-esque atmosphere. It is rather loud and crowded feeling. The "House Cut Porterhouse" was very good.

We were extremely DISAPPOINTED! After reading the other reviews, we decided this would be a perfect place for my husband and I to enjoy our 25th anniversary dinner. It was very NOISY, and other patrons were dressed as if they were attending a gym class (men in short gym shorts didn't add to the ambiance). My filet mignon was supposed to have been med-rare to medium but it was very well done. They prepared a second one but my potatoes were totally cold by the time the second steak was delivered - they should have replaced the potatoes too! and since it took quite a while, my husband ate alone and so did I. (A quality restaurant would have either kept my husband's meal hot until mine was ready, or replaced both.) Not what had we envisioned for our anniversary celebration. As for the food: my filet was larger than I expected, but it tasted as if it had been soaked in soy sauce. It was very very salty. I generally use a lot of salt on everything but this was way saltier than I've ever been served any place. Why would they add anything to a filet mignon? The soy/salt flavor overwhelmed the steak! My husband's prime rib wasn't medium but instead medium-well and only luke warm. The only positives were the the salads, the bread and Stephanie, our personable server. Overall our experience was far from satisfactory. PS my location is shown as Sun City Center, FL, which is where our winter residence is. This restaurant was in Bay City, MI.

Four excellent dinners tonight!! Salmon, prime rib and grouper prepared two different ways. (The lobster sauce IS to die for!!!) The warm bread was heavenly, the salads were very good and each dinner consisted of huge portions. There were no disappointments at our table. Our waitress was also excellent! She was friendly and efficient! Warm bread arrived as soon as we were seated. Our meals arrived after a short wait and our food - all of it - was hot. She returned to our table several times bringing drink refills and making herself available to our needs. I don't know why I've never been here before this, but will surely go back again soon!

I went there for the first time with my family tonight and overall the food was pretty good. I ate the grilled salmon which was cooked nicely, not too juicy not too dry. The rest of my family ordered a variety of steaks to which they all enjoyed. Our waiter was also awesome never letting our drinks get too low. The only thing that was disappointing was the wait. We got there and the place was very busy so we were put on the waiting list. Soon we noticed parties who arrived after us being seated. Even parties bigger than our 6 were getting tables before us. When we finally said something to the hostess she told us the others had gotten there first. She blatantly lied as even parties being seated before us commented to us that we were there first. To me that is very disappointing and because of it I gave them 3 stars.

My wife and I and sometimes family have eaten there about fifteen times at least. We have never had a bad meal there. The food is well prepared the way you order it. Everything was clean and the wait staff has always been friendly and courteous. Our only complaint is that they play the music to loud. We wouldn't go back time and again if we ever had a bad experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Way overpriced!! The best thing about this place is the bread and that is pretty sad since its a steakhouse.

Only been there twice, both for lunch. Had to wait 20 minutes both times even when we were the only ones waiting and also seen quite a few empty tables. Service was just ok. Not great. The bread is excellent. Crabcake appetizer was good. Prime rib didn't look great, but had decent flavor. Restaurant was pretty loud even without many patrons. Would go there if I didnt feel like standing in the cold grilling my own steak

My husband and I moved to the area a month ago, and after visiting about 5 restaurants that were so terrible we didn't eat hardly any of the food we ordered, we finally found Lucky's! We ordered the toasted ravioli, stuffed grouper, the "big" porterhouse, and had sides of grilled asparagus and steamed broccoli. The side salads that came with the meals were very good, and had a little too much shredded cheese but had really flavorful tomatoes which made up for it in my book. The toasted raviolis tasted more deep fried than oven toasted, which I didn't expect and took me a minute to get over, but were really good with the spicy ranch dipping sauce. The crab/shrimp stuffed flounder was amazing. It came with a lobster creme sauce that made a great accompaniment to the fish, which was well cooked and an excellent texture. My only complaint was that the stuffing had the tiny (possibly canned?) shrimp which I don't think are deveined properly, and artificial crab meat. Artificial crab or not, the stuffing was still tasty, and this likely keeps the cost reasonable. My husband said his steak was one of the best he's had in a while, and it was huge, lean and cooked perfectly. The grilled asparagus was tasty but had a little too much olive oil (I love olive oil so I didn't really mind it), but the steamed broccoli came in melted butter with fresh dill, which we didn't care for becaue the butter and dill overpowered the taste of the broccoli. The prices for the seafood and steaks are also very reasonable, considering the quality and quantity of food you're getting. Next time we'll skip the toasted ravioli and ask for plain steamed broccoli, but overall this was a great meal!

This was a very nice surprise -- after years of just-average steaks in the area, we tried this place. It was just right! The Porterhouse was out of this world -- cooked to perfection and served piping hot! Sides also were excellent, as was the hot bread and butter. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. A fine place to go to celebrate or just to have a wonderful meal.

Just ate there for the second time while visiting from the quad city area, we had great service and the food was very good, three of us had the prime rib, each done perfectly, rare to medium rare. I added the shrimp combo with the stuffed shrimp and was very impressed with it. My daughter inlay had the seafood combo and although they brought out the wrong dish they reacted quickly and brought out the right one and she really enjoyed it. We will definitely eat here again and find the price and value to be excellent.

We have been regulars at Lucky's since shortly after they opened. I have never had a service problem, and the food is always amazing. My favorite is their Prime Rib. The flavor is amazing and it is always cooked as ordered. The one thing to keep in mind is that the Prime Rib is free-cut...it is ALWAYS much larger than what the menu says.
